G&T’s Really, Really Nice Place is about to be your new favourite thing. Why? Because they serve REAL BRUNCH every Saturday and Sunday. Cinnamon french toast with bananas? Smoked haddock omelette? Eggs benedict three ways? Huevos rancheros? Bloody Mary’s? Caesars? Bottomless coffee? YOU CAN GO THERE AND HAVE IT. Did I mention the chandeliers, quirky shabby-chic decor and super, friendly service? Oh, yeah, I also supply them with challah and English muffin bread. G&T’s is located at Goudsbloemstraat 91hs. Visit their website at http://www.reallyniceplace.com for more information. |

De Tafel van 18 is a new-ish feature on the Haarlemmerdijk and it’s quickly become one of my favourite shops, mostly because it means I now have a cake decorating supply shop within 5 minutes on Nomzilla HQ! They have a decent selection of fondants and marzipan, dyes, baking ingredients, sugarpaste modelling tools, books, and more. They also offer cupcake decorating workshops.
De Tafel van 18 is located at Haarlemmerdijk 97. Visit their website at detafelvan18.nl for more information. |

Tea Bar is the brainchild of Sara Verver and Fenje Bolt. They took their idea and their passion for tea and turned it into a successful business in the heart of Amsterdam. Tea Bar sells a variety of loose leaf teas by weight: green tea, black teas, fruit teas, they’ve got everything! They also sell a variety of tea-related products, I love the mini teapots!
Tea Bar is located at Haarlemmerdijk 71. Visit www.teabar.nl for more information. |

Restored is the creative collaboration of Petra van Roon and Marijke Hukema. They’ve taken their passion for independent, creative design and turned it into a beautiful shop on the Haarlemmerdijk. Restored sells a selection of jewellery, accessories, clothing and bespoke items from talented crafters and designers. They also host sewing workshops – very cool.
Restored is located at Haarlemmerdijk 39. Visit www.restored.nl for more information. |

Il Mattarello is a godsend for any self-respecting Italian food lover. It’s the passion-project of chef Aldus Dheeresh Strohmenger and Zia Dotan Dagan. They use organic, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients as much as possible. Their homemade pasta is to die for. They also do pasta-making workshops – which I can highly recommend.
Il Mattarello is located at Westerstraat 77-sous. Visit www.ilmattarello.nl for more information. |

Small World Catering. The best sandwiches in Amsterdam. Owned by a sarcastic, exhuberant Aussie named Sean and staffed with a hip team of expats. Everything is baked, roasted, stewed and brewed fresh daily. This place is a gem of Jordaan north. Oh, and did I mention the incredible coffee, too? You can even get a flat white, mate.
Small World is located at Binnen Oranjestraat 14. Visit www.smallworldcatering.nl for more information. |

Delicious Food is a fantastic little family-run organic grocery shop that sells local produce, organic wine, raw foods, their own baked goods, and a huge selection of bulk grains, pastas, nuts, seeds, spices, teas and dried fruit. It means I don’t have to shop at Albert Heijn, and that’s a very good thing.
Delicious Food is located at Westerstraat 24. Visit www.deliciousfood.nl for more information. |
