Three babies in a cupcake
Before I post the photos, I wanted to say HELLO to my lovely Grandma Joan and all my great Aunties. They all have iPads now and I hear that they’re a fan of Nomzilla
I love how tech-savvy my family in Canada has become lately!
So, you loud and proud ladies, here you are, the triplet baby shower cupcakes I did a few weeks ago:
All the faces were hand-painted with a verrrry small brush:
Adorable Ladybug Cupcakes
Back from four weeks in Australia and Malaysia and my first order of the new year is super cute: ladybug cupcakes! The cupcakes are for a 3-year-old girl’s birthday party. The flavours are Chocoholic, Milly Vanilly and Drunk & Salty. Each cupcake is filled with frosting. Happy Birthday!
Going to a Land Down Under
Hi cupcake lovers,
I’ve been open for nearly a year now, baking cupcakes and meeting lovely new people along the way. Thank you to all of my customers, friends, word-spreaders, and fans and followers on Facebook and Twitter for making Cupcakes by Nomzilla a success in 2011.
I’ve just finished baking my last order of 2011. Mr. Nomzilla and I are travelling to Australia for a much-anticipated (and well deserved) vacation.
Nomzilla will be closed for business from 18 December to 16 January 2012.
I wish you all happy holidays and a fantastic new year!
Closed from 30 October – 5 November
Nomzilla’s off to the the land of schnitzel and Mozart for a week!
I will not be taking any cupcake orders from 30 October – 5 November.
Autumn Flavour #2 – Spiced Maple Pumpkin
It was Canadian Thanksgiving a couple weeks ago (yes, we have our OWN Thanksgiving
, and I introduced quite a few people to one of my ultimate autumn desserts, the pumpkin pie.
It’s filled with all those lovely aromatic spices: cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and ginger, and a touch of homemade pumpkin puree lifts this cupcake into pure autumnal bliss.
Yum, yum, yum. Fall is here! Spiced Maple Pumpkin is now on the Flavour menu.
New Autumn Flavour – Apple Pie!
Yes, summer is now over. For real. Gone are the bright reds, oranges, blues and purples of summer’s warm weather fruits like strawberries, peaches, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. Now, the farmers markets are filled with the autumn harvest. APPLES!
In Autumn, when the chilled air requires a thick sweater and scarf and the furnace finally kicks in, all I want to do is bake! Apples, cinnamon, maple, nutmeg, cloves, brown sugar…all the amazing fall-flavours that go into my new autumn-inspired cupcake.
Meet, Apple Pie:
Apple Pie is the newest flavour that’s been added to my Flavour menu.
I’m baaa-aaaack
After basking in the sun and heat for three glorious weeks in Canada, Nomzilla has returned to er, a rather damp and grey Amsterdam.
Yes, it seems summer is nearing an end in the Netherlands. This means I’ll be revising the Nomzilla menu and replacing the seasonal summer flavours with new autumn flavours.
Stay tuned!

New Summer Flavour – The “Eatin’ Mess”
I picked up the most delicious, juicy, bright red strawberries at the organic market this weekend. After a week in London and loving all things English, including Wimbledon, I used a quintessential English dessert to inspire my new cupcakes. What happens when the Eton Mess meets Nomzilla? You get: Eatin’ Mess! It’s a vanilla bean cupcake topped with fresh vanilla-infused whipped cream, studded with fresh berries and a homemade raspberry coulis PLUS fresh-baked crushed meringues. YUM.
New Flavour! Meet the Drunk & Salty
I recently attended one of Edible Europe’s Ghetto-gether’s hosted by The Kitchen here in Amsterdam. It’s basically a monthly (kind of) potluck of like-minded foodies in the city, and the host changes each time. And it’s awesome. The theme of the last one was “Bring your Sunday Best”. Lately, my Sunday best has been trying out new cupcake recipes. I’ve been dying to make some salted caramel and thought “why not make it a cupcake!” So here is the newest Nomzilla flavour.
Meet the Drunk & Salty:
It’s a classic Chocoholic with a warm oaky Bourbon undertone. The buttercream…oh my god. It’s damn good. A ultra-smooth salted caramel buttercream dotted with flecks of vanilla seeds. Sprinkled with a few crystals of Maldon’s sea salt and a chocolate curl. DROOOOOOOOL.
You can find all my flavours here.
